Mano Beauty College was established 85 years ago and is one of the most recognized hairdressing and beauty schools in Tokyo.

In order to work as a beautician in Japan, you need to attain a national hairdressing license. At Mano Beauty College, you can train yourself for the national examination. In addition, besides hairdressing, you can learn many skills that allow you to become an expert of “total beauty”, such as make-up, manicure, facial esthetics, comb-up, traditional kimono dressing, and numerous other topics of study.

As the result of this detailed and structured style of education, every year the College reaches a very high success rate in the national hairdressing examinations, with usually over 95%, and sometimes 100%, of our students passing.

Thanks to Mano Beauty College’s history, we have managed to create trustful relationships with beauty salons throughout the country. Each year, we receive more than 2,000 job offers for our students. This allows us to provide opportunities for the international students that also attend our programs.

One of the other characteristics of Mano Beauty College is that very engaging opportunities for communication on a wide range of subjects, not just hair dressing, are encouraged between our teachers and students.

This thinking is also reflected in our curriculum and numerous events which combines teaching true techniques and professional values, while supporting the creativite personalities of each of our students. To expand the global perspective of students, every year we organize a study trip to a selected country in Europe.

Students also participate in the world famous Sassoon Scholarship Student Cut Contest, to learn how to focus their endeavors towards a specific aim. Using a real model of his/her choice, the student creates an “art work” incorporating hair, make-up, nail and fashion for a free style contest, in which a stylist’s taste and techniques are judged.

We participate in many university festivals across Japan where we plan “ beauty rooms” so that students can experiment on real models. We organize recreation events as well, including bowling games or small trips so that students can get together and develop long-lasting relationships. All these events work towards a student’s evolution during his or her school life.

In Mano Beauty School, there are 2 courses where you can learn techniques of beauty.

1. Professional Examination Course (2-year Program)

• The aim is to train for the national hairdressing examination
• The course consists of acquiring the techniques of hair cutting, winding and all-wave setting, that are the subjects in the national hairdressing examination. The number of hours for the practical classes is defined by the government and is set at 810 hours. There are 600 hours of theoretical classes to learn the knowledge required for the writing examination
• To support well-rounded exposure for our students, in addition to the government required practical and theoretical classes, we have the following courses:
  • theoretical classes in color coordination, illustration, psychology and English/French language
  • practical classes such as techniques of shampooing, hair coloring, nail, make-up, esthetics as well as Japanese Kimono dressing.

2. Total Beauty Course (1-year Program)

• This course is focused on learning techniques of beauty such as nail, hair setting, make-up and esthetics. Indeed there are many jobs around beauty that are available outside hair salons.
• The course lasts for one year and there are classes in week days only in the morning ( 9:00~12:50). The course mainly includes practical classes (640 hours) compared to theoretical classes (60 hours)
• In each of the fields quoted above, the students are trained for the diploma/license delivered by major organizations for those respective disciplines.
